By May 1942, the British had been driven out of Burma, while the Japanese had halted their advance on the Chin-dwin River, mainly because of the onset of the monsoon. However, the British feared that the Japanese would resume their advance with the arrival of good weather. General Archibald Wavell, the Commander-in-Chief in India, planned to resume the offensive as soon as possible, but on most of the front the infrastructure (roads, airfields, etc.) was very poor and would take months to bring it up to standard. However, in Arakan, the distances to be covered were relatively short and communications could be restored in good time, so it was decided to attack there. The offensive began on 17 December 1942 and continued well until the end of the month, when they were stopped before Donbaik, where the Japanese put up a tenacious resistance. The British continued attacks until March, but without success. Finally, the newly arrived 55th Division counterattacked and forced the British to retreat in May. Try to recreate the story and have fun.
