(I shall return!). MacArthur havia retornado... Tente recriar a história e divirta-se

On March 17, 1942, General Douglas MacArthur arrived in Australia after a risky journey from Luzon, the main island of the Philippine archipelago. Upon landing, he declared to the press a phrase that would go down in history: “I shall return!” On October 20, 1944, MacArthur fulfilled his promise, landing on the Philippine island of Leyte. The invading forces belonged to the American 6th Army, led by Lieutenant General Krueger, and were organized into two Army Corps, with four divisions in the front line and two more in reserve. Including support units, tanks, artillery and combat engineers, the American forces on Leyte would number almost 200,000 men. The defense of Leyte was the responsibility of the Japanese 16th Infantry Division, a veteran unit subordinate to General Suzuki’s 35th Army. The Japanese threw the full force of their Army, Navy and Air Force into the fray. The Navy was destroyed in the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Japanese air force was eventually consumed by kamikaze attacks. On land, however, strong reinforcements were sent to Leyte (about 130,000 Japanese would fight for possession of the island). The Americans faced fierce combat against the obstinate Japanese, who were continually reinforced, in difficult terrain suitable for defense and in adverse weather conditions that prevented the best use of the captured airfields. But the final American victory was inevitable. MacArthur had returned... Try to recreate the story and have fun
