Often known as the "D-Day of the Great War", the Dardanelles Campaign was an attempt by the British Empire to invade the Ottoman Empire via naval force. The ANZACs, Australian and New Zealander soldiers, were made famous for their efforts during the campaign. The campaign ultimately failed will the defeat at the battle of Gallipoli and the retreat of forces from the Dardanelles.
