The Red King's Rebellion, better known as King Philip's War, was a conflict that occurred from 1675-78 between the colonies of New England and their allies and a confederation of New England tribes led by the chief of the Wampanoag, Metacomet, the eponymous "King Philip". The war ended in the defeat and submission of the Indian forces and served as a model for how European nations would handle Native Americans afterwards; total destruction and assimilation by any means necessary for the sake of expansion and profit.
