Module talk:Eldritch Horror

From Vassal

Hi, what software do you use to create the SVG text files? I'm trying to input the missing text for private use.

I use Inkscape, but because Inkscape doesn't support webfonts I also run a script after making any edits, which adds the webfont stuff. Editing the files in Inkscape will probably work ok, except the fonts will be wrong.

Also, note that Batik (which VASSAL uses to render SVG) doesn't support Inkscape's 'flowed text', so if you use any of those you should convert them before adding the files to the module (from the 'Text' menu in Inkscape, choose 'Convert to Text').

Conditions / Assets not correctly drawing after repeated loads?

I'm using version 1.7, with Mountains of Madness and Forsaken Lore.

Something seems to be going a little odd with the module's automatic drawing of assets when it doesn't have many options left. For context I'm running a game on a forum and using the Vassal module to create images for it, so I'm regularly save-quit-loading the module - I don't know if that's adding to the problem but I figure it's worth noting.

They're playing against the Rise of the Elder Things, working on the Mystery where you have to repeatedly turn Cultists into Allies and feed them to the Mystery. At the moment most characters have one or two Allies and the discard deck's full of them, so there are only 4 left in the actual asset deck, and that seems to be causing problems. Whenever I right-click an investigator and choose to gain an Ally Asset, there's a good chance it will draw the Witch Doctor, which a player only just discarded.

An Asset should only be taken from the discard deck if there are none of the appropriate kind left in the draw deck. I haven't been able to reproduce the behaviour you describe, where a card is taken from the discard deck when there are still 4 matching cards in the draw deck.

There was a bug in 1.7 (fixed now in 1.8) where the Asset discard deck wasn't randomised, so you'd always get the one on top of the discard deck if there weren't any in the draw deck. Are you sure that wasn't what you were seeing (i.e. are you sure there were ALLY Assets in the draw deck when you got Witch Doctor from the discard deck)?

There were very definitely a number of Ally assets left in the deck - my workaround was to right-click the remaining deck and select 'draw an ALLY asset', which worked correctly. I'll see if I've still got a save around that can surface this behaviour, or else do some testing in 1.8.

Signs of Carcosa

Is an extension for the fifth expansion for Eldritch Horror in the works? It being missing from this module kind of bothers me a little.

The module is really well made and makes everything pretty convenient since most of my tables don't have enough space for all the materials.

Yes, I'm working on 'Signs of Carcosa' at the moment. I'm hoping to get it finished within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for responding Foobarius.

By the way, are you planning on including any of the fan-made expansions? Shudde-M'ell just got released recently, along with other extra content. Thanks again for automating a lot of stuff for this game.

I've got the Children of Yuggoth fan-made expansion mostly done, and I'm planning to release it at the same time as Signs of Carcosa. I haven't looked at any of the others, but I might do them at some point if time permits.

Dreamlands

Is there a Dreamlands expansion module in the works? I've been holding off on buying it until it shows up here since most of my games are solo via Vassal. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming "Cities in Ruin" small box expansion coming later this year. Thank you!

Condition cards blank when flipping?

Cards like Back Injury, Leg Injury, Blessed, Cursed are empty when you flip them around. Is there any way to fix this?

- They're supposed to be blank. Read the Comments section of the Module page.

Three remaining expansions?

It's been a couple years now, any chance we'll be getting the last three expansions? We still need The Dreamlands, Cities in Ruin, and Masks of Nyarlathotep.
