Some questions

I can't seem to see anywhere if a file upload or page edit is in progress (of moderation) or was rejected or the like. In short, I'm missing sort of status of pending edits and uploads. Is there somewhere to see that? Thanks.

Also, in my recent module Module:First Blood: The Guadalcanal Campaign you changed the cover image to that from S&T, which

isn't the right image for this version of the game. This version is closer to the AHIKS version
probably is copyright protected

For these reasons, I had made another image. Now, the first version of that was too large - which I realised - and then I uploaded a new image (hence my question above) which again was my own design (and which, BTW, Chester Hendrix - original author - liked very much). Could we please change it to that image? Thanks.

We follow what is on BGG - this is spelled out on the module creation info. The image used is the same as you see on BGG. If it is not right take it up with them

I dont think there is a way beyond what you have found to see the status of things. The moderation page and a few other tools are admin view only. You can safely assume if your change hasn't been seen and it is not in the recent changes, it is still in moderation. Anything that is rejected, we notify the user it relates to (this is very rare). It usually never takes more than 48hrs to get through - sometimes it might be a little longer if there is a lot of stuff in the que..

The image should be of the gamebox and size should be less than 200px high - it notes this. It did use to say module page would get rejected (fixed - bit draconian) but really I just replace the image off of what I find on BGG. IDK if its right or not - if not feel free to fix it - just stick to the height thing is all

Is there any way to see the status of moderation of a page edit or file upload? One can follow the links to Special:RecentChanges or even Special:Log but these log only seems to record things after moderation. Or am I reading this wrong.

Another user had a similar question (User_talk:Tim_M#Moderation_Question) further down this page, but got no answer either. Clearly, users are concerned a: not to overburden the VASSAL web-site maintainers, who are doing a great job, with superfluous uploads, and b: would like to know what goes on with their uploads while in moderation. Thank you for considering this.

A comment to your reply to the second question

You say We follow what is on BGG - this is spelled out on the module creation info. I take it you mean How to Create a Module Page and Module_Section_Information. The latter does say Game pages for modules shall be named according to the game title as listed on Boardgamegeek, but neither page says anything about the game index image.
- For the game in question Module:First Blood: The Guadalcanal Campaign you have uploaded an image that neither I nor, do I think, you have license to use. What's more, it is not the correct image (even if BGG uses it), since the image is for the follow-up game released by Strategy & Tactics, not the one released by AHIKS. Even if that isn't a good enough reason, then clearly the endorsement of an original designer should count for something.

Tim, in the Across 5 Aprils module page, Iam2509 removed links to the modules for approx. 4 other scenarios. That's why I reverted his change. Not only did he screw up the formatting, he removed several lines in the file table linking to other scenario modules. Not other version numbers... entire battles.

Alkulkis00 - again I saw what you did. Yes Stephen messed up the formatting. I undid your revision because you simply reverted the page which was not what Stephen wanted to do. To illustrate here is a screenshot of his edit - please note the files he wanted to keep with screenshot of what I did - I simply fixed his formatting. This is all that was needed to be done - not a revert like you did.

Stephen has the right to remove the files because they belong to him. You would know that if you bother to check page history - which again - you didnt

Tim, the page USED TO HAVE links to 8 or 9 separate scenarios. Now it has FOUR. He didn't just misformat it, he clobbered every trace of 4 or 5 useful .vmod files.

Please reread the last paragraph I wrote again. The fIles were uploaded by stephen, he has the right to remove them. It is his perogative, not yours and not mine.

Moderation Question

Hi Tim!

Question: when I submit a wiki page edit and it says it's in moderation. Is there any way to know (e.g. a couple days later) when the edit hasn't appeared whether it (a) was rejected or (b) is still in the moderation queue?

Reason I ask: I have a major version release (9.3) I'd like to add to Module:Paths_of_Glory, but a day or two ago I submitted an edit to that page paring down the download list of some of the more ancient versions of the module to clear clutter. I did this after consulting a major figure in the PoG community, and noted the reasons for it in my edit description, but I can see how it is possible a deletion of several lines of content might possibly have been rejected.

Obviously if a moderator rejected the edit then I don't want to try to re-apply it; conversely if the edit is still waiting in the moderation queue then I'm worried that if I make a NEW edit to add it that it will eventually clash with the earlier edit when moderation time comes. I don't seem to have any email settings in preferences that apply to this.

Clearly I'm excited to get the "cool new version" out since it's got some major feature adds, but I also don't want to clobber the page etc etc.

Any help most appreciated!

My module title Star Wars Episode 1 Customizable Card Game was incorrectly changed to Star Wars Customizable Card Game. These are actually two different games. Would you please change the module title back to Star Wars Episode 1 Customizable Card Game. I also need images approved as well so they show on the page.

Per our guidelines - module pages are titled per their BGG page. As such your page is named as such. It will not change. If this is unacceptable we can remove the page altogether.

Hi John, the wiki is case sensitive - the extension of the jpg was lower case. It has been fixed

Cat keys

I see you've undone my test case of fixing the category key for Les cent-heures.... What is the reason? Is it because we disagree on the use of category keys or is it because I used the wrong technical solution? Daniel U. Thibault (talk) 15:00, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Its not a valid category - the categories are defined in the Title header. -- Tim M

We dont do Category Keys - its rejected. Look at any of the 2000 pages and see if you find that. We use it sparingly for Admin specific reasons only. Your category (if you want to change it in the Topic field) is the Battle of Waterloo. We do not make up stuff for 1 single page. This is closed -- Tim M

You misunderstand. By supplying a category key, one can change how a categorised page is listed by the category page. For example, by default the module "Les cent-heures de Waterloo" is listed under "L" (its leading letter) in the Category:Modules page. By supplying "{{DEFAULTSORT:cent-heures de Waterloo}}" on the module's page, this gets it listed under "C". In library science, a leading definite article ("The" in English, "Le/La/Les/L'" in French, etc.) is always omitted when indexing a label. That's why this maneuver is desirable. This is the only effect DEFAULTSORT has: it changes under which letter the page is listed in its category pages. It does not change the category nor create a new one. Daniel U.
